Day 18 of the 30 days of gratitude challenge is food. Food is obviously essential for survival, but I think too many people get fixated on doing weird, faddy diets to ‘correct’ supposed (non-existent) chemical inbalances in their bodies in order to stay healthy. Speaking as someone with diagnosed chemical imbalances, as long as your diet doesn’t consist solely of cheeseburgers, if it isn’t broken, don’t try to ‘fix’ it.
Having a meal is a sociable activity, and it’s one of the only social things I can manage at the moment. It’s also a way of expressing culture, there’s a lot of tradition behind certain meals and it’s often used in celebration. Those are also things to be grateful for- we shouldn’t just be eating to survive, it’s good to be enjoying what we’re eating and the circumstances around it.
I’ve been doing a 30 foods I want to eat before I’m 30 challenge which I’ve been blogging about because I wanted to try some different things. It’s been a really interesting experience!
